Shoulder Pain & Injury Relief Assessment — Kurri Kurri

Get a straight answer about
your shoulder.

Shoulder pain hangs around when nobody's properly assessed what's driving it, only whether you can still lift your arm. We test it properly, treat it on the day, and give you the plan to sort it.

What the assessment actually involves

You're not alone

Sound familiar?

You can't lie on that side any more. It wakes you at two in the morning and you're stacking pillows just to get through the night.

Can't sleep on it

Hanging washing, reaching a top shelf or pressing overhead sends a catch through the shoulder, and you've started working around it.

Anything overhead hurts

Since you added bench or overhead press it's been grumbling, and you're quietly dropping the weight to get through a session.

It niggles under load

You hurt it months ago, it settled down, and it's never felt the same. It aches, clicks, or lets go when you least expect it.

It's never been right since

Shoulder pain is rarely one torn thing. The joint relies on the rotator cuff, the
shoulder blade and the way the whole arm loads together, and if nobody
tests which part has dropped off, you end up resting, flaring, and
resting again. Strength and control need measuring,
not guessing.

What you get for $55

The Shoulder Pain & Injury Relief Assessment

A full shoulder assessment

Movement, technique, joint and cuff testing, and precise strength testing on our VALD dynamometer, so we know rather than guess.

Hands-on treatment

You get treated on the day, not assessed and sent home with a printout.

A personalised recovery plan

Built around your shoulder, your training or your work, and where you want to get back to.

Your own free app

Your plan, your exercises and your progress in your pocket, so you always know the next step.

How it works

Three steps, in this order

We don't skip to the exercises before we know what we're dealing with.

01

Test it properly

How the shoulder moves, how the joint and cuff handle testing, and how much force the arm can actually produce compared to the other side.

02

Treat it

Hands-on work on the day to settle pain and swelling, plus the first exercises aimed at the gap we found.

03

Build it back

A staged plan in your app that rebuilds strength and control, with retesting along the way so you can see it working.

Why Valley

Elite-sport testing, in Kurri Kurri

You shouldn't have to drive to Sydney to get your shoulder managed the way a professional athlete's would be.

Murray Leyland

Built in professional football

I spent years as Head Physiotherapist at Central Coast Mariners and New York City FC, where a shoulder doesn't get cleared because it feels alright, it gets cleared because it passes the testing. That's the same standard every shoulder gets here, whether you're playing A-League or lifting on a Tuesday night.

Murray Leyland — Principal Physiotherapist
01

A team that keeps getting sharper

Our physios get protected weekly one-on-one mentoring with a titled Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist, plus a structured in-house training program. You get whoever you see at their best, not just whoever's free.

02

We measure, we don't guess

VALD dynamometry and force plates give us real numbers on your strength, symmetry and control, plus a purpose-built rehab gym you use free for your whole program.

03

Connected to your surgeon

We work alongside leading orthopaedic surgeons across the Hunter and Sydney, so if your shoulder does need more than rehab, you're not starting from scratch.

FAQs

Questions. Before you book.

What's included for $55?+
A full shoulder assessment covering movement, technique, joint and rotator cuff testing and precise strength testing on our VALD dynamometer, hands-on treatment on the day, and a personalised recovery plan delivered through your own free app. Usually $125.
Do I need a referral?+
No referral needed, book straight in online or over the phone. If you have a GP care plan or private health cover, bring those details and we'll sort the rest.
Do I need a scan first?+
Usually not. A thorough hands-on assessment tells us a great deal about what's going on. Shoulder scans also pick up changes in plenty of people with no pain at all, so a scan on its own rarely gives you the answer. If imaging would change your plan, we'll say so and help you organise it.
Is it a rotator cuff tear?+
Maybe, and it matters less than you'd think. Plenty of cuff tears settle well with the right loading program and never need surgery. What matters is which part of the shoulder has lost strength or control, which is exactly what we measure.
Should I just get a cortisone injection?+
Sometimes an injection helps settle things enough to get moving, but on its own it doesn't change the strength or control that let the problem start. If we think an injection would help your case, we'll talk it through with you and your GP.
My shoulder is really stiff. Is that a frozen shoulder?+
It might be. Frozen shoulder behaves differently to most shoulder pain and needs a different plan, so it's worth getting assessed properly rather than pushing through a generic program that won't suit it.
Will I need surgery?+
Most shoulder pain doesn't. Plenty of shoulder problems respond well to structured rehab. If we think you need a surgeon's opinion, we'll tell you straight and help you get in front of one.
How long until I'm back to normal?+
It depends on what we find and what you're getting back to. After your assessment you'll have a clear picture of the timeframe, rather than being left to guess.
What should I wear?+
Something we can get the shoulder out of easily, a singlet or loose t-shirt is ideal. If you have previous scans or reports for the shoulder, bring those too.
Does my sporting club insurance cover physio?+
It might, and it's worth checking before you assume you're paying out of pocket. Many clubs include player insurance with registration, and it can cover a decent chunk of treatment. Ask your club or association directly.

Stop working around it. Get it tested.
